World Skydiving Day 2026 - what an unforgettable day!
Saturday 11 July was the third annual World Skydiving Day, and we spent it jumping from sunrise to sunset, contributing 200 jumps to the global tally. Jumpers of all experience levels, from first-time tandem participants to our seasoned sporties, took to the skies all day on a beautiful Auckland day.
Young Reuben celebrated his 11th birthday by jumping alongside his mum, Sharni. Delia marked her 60th birthday with a skydive, two days after her daughter Jade took the leap herself and convinced her mum to follow suit. Tina jumped alongside her daughter Tuffy, a professional skydiver who completed a solo jump right with her, saying she figured today was the youngest she’d ever be, so why not!!
Sheta made her jump as part of what she’s calling her “yes year.” “It’s my yes year,” she told us. “If I can do this, what else have I been telling myself I can’t?”
Seeing so many come together to break a world record and have an epic time doing it was something else. We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part.
World Skydiving Day kicked off in 2024 with a record of 30,351 jumps across 51 countries in a single day. Last year’s event fell short of that mark, with 26,718 jumps officially reported worldwide. This year’s global tally hasn’t been announced yet, we’ll keep you posted.
To everyone who jumped with us on Saturday, whether it was your first time or your fiftieth, thank you. You made the day what it was.
