A Career in skydiving?

Want a job that is exciting and a bit different? Careers don’t get more exciting than this. Did you know that skydiving is growing worldwide and as it does, there are jobs all over the world available in the skydiving industry? The best way to enter the skydiving industry is by completing a Diploma in Commercial Skydiving at the New Zealand Skydiving School. This 32 week Diploma includes 200 skydives and worldwide work experience placement opportunities. Students from all over New Zealand and the world move to Parakai, Auckland, to complete this Diploma because it is the only place in the world to offer this worldwide recognized qualification. Dropzones all over the world desire graduates of the Diploma for employees because the  training they have gained throughout the Diploma make them highly skilled and work ready.

The New Zealand Skydiving School is based at Skydive Auckland, which means that students are immersed within a real commercial skydiving dropzone, therefore improving the quality and application of the learning.

No past skydiving experience is required to enrol for this Diploma. Most students have done a tandem skydive although some have never ever done any! Students are provided with affordable accommodation options during their time at the school which are just a few minutes walk from the dropzone.

Fun fact. It’s tradition in the skydiving industry to do your 100th jump in your undies! #undiehundie

When it comes to the work experience placement module, the students will discuss their future career and location preferences and the team at the school will match them up with options that are suitable for them.

Course fees are completely FREE for those that qualify for Fees Free. The only cost is equipment for which there are options to hire most gear or purchase. Outside Fees Free options, the Diploma cost varies for international and domestic students.

81% of graduates in 2023 and 100% of graduates in 2022 were offered full time employment in the skydiving industry upon successful completion of their Diploma.

There are many career paths in the skydiving industry. Upon graduating most students become Camera Flyers, Ground crew or Parachute Packers as these are entry level roles within the industry. They could then build their jump numbers and experience to then become Coaches, Jumpmasters, AFF Jump Instructors and Tandem Instructors. Some students have also been seen to become Parachute Jump Instructors in the Air Force. With skydiving dropzones worldwide typically having their busiest seasons during the summer, many graduates enjoy the opportunities of chasing summers and travelling the world skydiving. Check out where some of the past students are working at since they graduated.

The Diploma in Commercial Skydiving has 4 intakes per year, kicking off in January, April, July and October.
