World Skydiving Day at Skydive Auckland

Skydive Auckland celebrated the first ever World Skydiving Day on Saturday 13 July!

The skydiving community worldwide united in a global effort to establish an exciting world record for the most skydives done in a day. This means that anyone doing a skydive on this day are part of a world record.

As New Zealand is one of the first places in the world to see the sunrise, Skydive Auckland kicked off this special day with a sunrise skydive making us one of the first places in the world to do jumps for world skydiving day.

This was the first World Skydiving Day and first global record attempt to ever take place and aimed to bring together the global community of skydivers in our shared passion for the sport with a day that will be repeated and celebrated on the second Saturday of July each year. Any category of skydiver were able take part whether licensed skydivers, those learning to skydive solo or tandem skydivers.

We saw a huge range of people joining us to celebrate this fabulous unique day, from tourists visiting us for their once-in-a-lifetime experience, Aucklander’s ticking it off their bucket list for their birthday, even kids joining in as there is no age limit for skydiving in New Zealand. For anyone ever wanting to say they are a world record holder, this annual event is their chance!

Skydive Auckland have submitted an end of day total number of skydives that took place at Skydive Auckland and the new world record will be announced shortly. Participants were able to purchase a World Skydiving Day Record certificate so they have proof of their world record achievement!

Next year’s World Skydiving Day is set to take place on Saturday 12 July 2025! Get involved and book your tandem skydive at Skydive Auckland here.
