Radio Hauraki's Matt Ward is jumped out of an airplane with a "macgyvered" parachute!

We all wanted to be MacGyver when we were young.

Case in point: Jay Reeve & Matt Ward from the Hauraki Breakfast, Summer Edition.

The all-new MacGyver is coming to Prime and it’s bigger, badder, and more MacGyver than ever before.

To get in the spirit, Radio Hauraki decided to MacGyver something for real by making a parachute out of whatever they could get their hands on and then test it out by jumping out of a plane!

BBQ and skydive event

We held a BBQ and skydive event for over 100 Auckland based booking agents to showcase our awesome dropzone. Great food, drink and sunshine - it could not have been better! The feedback was outstanding with many tourism agents saying it was the best skydive they have ever done in terms of views, the dropzone and the people.

Demo Jump at Taupaki School

Every year we have the pleasure of supporting Taupaki School with their fundraising, by skydiving right into their event just before the fireworks display and bringing a few of the school staff along for the ride.

V Energy NZ chose Skydive Auckland to film their recent advert. Yep, we threw a longboard, Xbox and a GS7 out of a plane and challenged Josh to dive after them. Have you got your can ready?

Nikon NZ introduced the 360 degree camera at Skydive Auckland to capture one of our sport skydiver's life mission. Sue is an adventurous skydiver, obsessed with her sport. She realised her mission when she could combine it with her passion for charity. Hurtling through the big blue sky she is creating a long-lasting impact for the less fortunate.

Skydiving grannies' 90th birthday jump

Skydiving granny reckons her 90th birthday outclassed the Queen's dull birthday

"You can bet what you like that the Queen, who's also 90 - she won't be diving off a plane. She had the dullest birthday you could imagine," Irene says.

The north Auckland resident, who lives in Mairangi Bay's Knightsbridge Village, used her 90th birthday celebration as an excuse to knock another item off her bucket list: Jumping from a plane nearly 3 kilometres above Parakai.

"It was lovely. You could see Rangitoto, East Coast, West Coast, Helensville - everything laid out before us. I'd recommend it to anybody. It's a terrific experience,"

Read more about Irene and see her skydive.
